What Older Adults Need to Know About Money
A two-phase grant helped the New Jersey Coalition for Financial Education first develop a newspaper tabloid distributed state-wide in New Jersey. The tabloid covered topics which research had shown to be of interest to older adults, including social security information, investment decision-making, health insurance, estate planning, etc. Once produced, the tabloid was made available and used in other states.
A second phase of the project included the development of an online interactive version of the units. The online version was based on a review of the published materials and a survey of a random sampling of New Jersey seniors. Adjustments were made from the print to the online version based on the survey.
Through both print and online versions of What Older Adults Need to Know About Money, thousands of older adults were informed of financial issues and answers of concern to them.
